-    The big debate between mentalists is Supernatural vs. Non-Supernatural. Many mentalists believe in telling their audiences that they possess supernatural abilities, others (like Spidey) believe that this is unethical and choose to make it very clear that there is no supernatural phenomenon

-    Mentalism deals with 4 major domains:
1) Telepathy: to read another person's thoughts
2) Clairvoyance: to see things outside the realm of anyone’s knowledge
3) Predictions: to know something is going to happen before it does
4) Telekinesis: to move or morph objects with ones thoughts

-    Mentalists have been consulted for many criminal investigations because they are said to have a different way to look at things and see things that others may not have. They also have the ability to step into the mindset of the criminal and see things from his/her perspective.

-    Many mentalists (such as Spidey) have also worked for the interview process of large companies in order to sense the sincerity or integrity of applicants.

-    Mentalists (such as Spidey) have also been used to work for companies as regular employees, but secretly use psychological techniques to push the companies name into customer's minds.

-    Psychics, palm readers, fortune tellers, tarot card readers, ghost whisperers, etc. All use techniques that are also used by mentalists. The ones who claim to have supernatural abilities have all been disproven

-    James Randi is a brilliant mentalist who in 1968 started the MILLION DOLLAR challenge. He offered a million dollar reward (the amount started at $100 in 1968 and grew to a million) to any person who can create a supernatural phenomenon in a lab, under test conditions, anything would work. This includes, ghost sightings, weeping statues, psychics, fortune tellers, ghost whisperers, astrologists, graphologists, anything at all. That money is still in his hands today and nobody has claimed it! Sylvia Browne who makes a living “talking to the dead” and who has appeared on Montel Williams, accepted the challenge on CNN and was SHAMEFULLY disproven. The great Harry Houdini spent a large part of his life searching for the same thing; his findings were as hopeless as Randi’s.
